ameO
Earth 8 Environmental
(when necessary) and compacted using a 10-ton vibratory smooth drum compactor. The entire
surface of the subgrade was compacted with at least 4-passes. Temperature was taken when the
ambient temperature was below 32°F with results averaging 38°F. These areas were inspected
by an AMEC representative and accepted for structural fill placement.
E) Slope Contouring
1) VLF
Slope contouring was performed in the following areas: between stations A26+00 (+/-) and
A28+00 (+/-), approximately 50 to 300 feet right of centerline; between stations H16+00 (+/-)
and H34+00 (+/-), approximately 100 feet left of centerline to 250 feet right of centerline;
between stations J7+00 (+/-) and J15+00 (+/-), approximately 400 feet left of centerline to 300
right of centerline; and between stations J26+00 (+/-) and J28+00 (+/-) 0 to 200 feet right of
centerline. Contouring was performed using various CAT dozers. Material generated as the cut
progressed was pushed down the slope.
F) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
Oversize rock within the Phase 5 VLF fill area was removed from fill areas and hauled to the
overburden stockpile area east of the east perimeter road between stations A28+00 (+/-) to
A36+00 (+/-).
G) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A John Deere 850 excavator, a CAT 375 excavator, and a CAT 385 excavator excavated
structural fill material from the following areas: between stations A7+25 (+/-) and A10+00
(+/-), approximately 50 feet left of centerline to 20 feet right of centerline; between stations
1-11+00 (+/-) and 1-12+00 (+/-), approximately 50 to 100 feet left of centerline; and between
stations H14+00 (+/-) and H29+00 (+/-), approximately 250 left of centerline to 200 right of
centerline. The structural fill material was loaded into CAT 777 haul trucks.
Prior to structural fill placement, during periods of time when ambient temperatures were
below 32°F, fill areas were prepared and worked to bring the existing fill to or above 34°F.
Ambient and fill temperatures were monitored on an hourly basis, by an AMEC representative.
Fill temperatures averaged approximately 42°F during the period of time the ambient
temperature was below 32°F.
Structural fill material was placed in the following areas: between stations A0+00 (+/-); A2+00
(+/-); E20+00 (+/-); and E23+50 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet left of the "E" centerline;
between stations A40+00 (+/-) and A44+50 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet right of
centerline; between stations A52+00 (+/-) and A58+00 (+/-), approximately 50 to 100 feet
right of centerline; between stations J6+00 (+/-) and J15+00 (+/-), approximately 100 feet left
of centerline to 100 feet right of centerline; and between stations K4+50 (+/-) and K10+00
(+/-), approximately 50 to 100 feet right of centerline. The structural fill material was spread
using various CAT dozers in 18" to 24" lifts. Each lift was moisture conditioned using a CAT
773 water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a 10-ton vibratory smooth drum
compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is
applicable).
VLF Weekly Report WE 09.26.09.D.doc
