Nb.gtt
There is no question that the residential use has commenced in the western % of the permit
area. The Division has received no recent communication with any of the landowners
expressing concerns about the reclaimed mine site. In fact, the most recent communication
was from a prospective buyer of adjacent lands to the north of the reclaimed area.
Revegetation
Generally, the eastern ''/3 of the permit area is a rangeland post-mining land use. The
disturbed area was reclaimed with this final objective. Much of the reclaimed lands consist
of moderate to steep slopes of various aspects based on location. South-facing areas have
always been sparse with regard to vegetative cover and more prone to rill and gully
development. However, shrubs find these areas suitable and many of the steep south-facing
slopes are shrub-covered with a sparse understory of grasses and forbs.
North-facing slopes have fared much better in terms of grasses and (orbs (shown below).
Some rill and gullies developed early in the life of reclaimed areas but the development of
these erosional features has slowed or stopped as vegetation has become better established
over the years.
6
