Overburden Stockpile
The overburden from Phase 1 will be stockpiled along the west edge of the pit, so that it may be
pushed down onto the slopes for reclamation when the time comes. Once enough of Phase 1 has
been mined out to start the Reclamation Plan, this material will be placed as backfill in Phase 1.
6 Water Information, Rights and Augmentation
All water rights issues such as availability of water for this operation, consumption rates, dust
control, etc. are present in Exhibit G - Water Information.
7. Schedule of Operations
Mining operations will only occur as dictated by demand up to the maximum rates described
earlier in the mine plan. Mining, screening and processing will take place year round and product
will be sold from this activity throughout the year, although little is expected to be sold in the
winter months. The operator will not have night gravel mining operations, although minor truck
activity or repairs may occur after hours. Mining, processing and trucking will take place in two
shifts per day (up to 18 hours total), 7 days per week, although many periods will see much less
activity. Activity is dependant on factors such as contracts awarded to the site.
8 Moffat County Impacts and Environmental Impacts
The current mining operation is planned on a site which is zoned agricultural by Moffat County,
a zoning type which includes the extraction of natural resources. The major surrounding uses of
the site are also mining. A special use permit with Moffat County is required for this project. As
per county regulations, all other permits will be in place before the county permit is issued.
The average total annual production is given as 125,000 tons per year. Occasional big jobs such
as a large highway repaving project, etc., may exceed these averages but other periods of low
demand will see less activity, so the average is appropriate for estimating long-term truck traffic.
Using this amount, the site will average 10,416 tons per month. Assuming there will be activity
Gehrman Pit October 09 D-6
