Tables I and 2 presents the water consumption for all exposed water surface, including water retained in
the gravel product and dust suppression. Water provided for dust suppression will be pumped from the
open mine.
Table 4 contain a summary of the amount monthly total water consumption and mine operational. The
total estimated annual water consumption for the mine for 2009 - 2010 is 17.23 acre-feet.
Monthly on-site alluvial depletions from evaporative losses, water retained in product and dust
suppression were estimated using the Alluvial Water Accounting System (AWAS) developed by
Colorado State University Integrated Decision Support group. All on-site alluvial depletions impact the
South Platte River. Table 3 shows the estimated 2009 - 2010 lagged depletions. Review of USGS Open
File reports for the Sterling Reach of the South Platte River Valley and the CSUIDS 200 meter grid
harmonic transmissivity indicated that a reasonable and representative aquifer Transmissivity for the area
390,000 gallons per day per foot (gpd/ft) and a aquifer storage coefficient of 0.20. The distance for all
open water and was determined to be 1,804 feet, with a total boundary distance from the river to the
aquifer boundary to the south estimated at 12,707. This aquifer data compares favorably with values
decreed in 03CW 195.
"Walk-away" requirements are based on 4.5 acres of exposed water surface and is covered by one share
of Schneider Ditch (consumptive use approximately 30 acre-feet), stock certificate enclosed, owned by
the applicant.
Augmentation Water Supply
The water supply for the aggregate mine is excess credits from the North Sterling Irrigation. These
excess credits are located in the same river reach as the depletions from the gravel mine.
Table 4 presents a summary of the replacement sources for 2009 - 2010. Table 4 presents the lagged
depletions from the mining evaporative and dust.
Conclusions
The total estimated depletions from the Logan Sand & Gravel mine total 17.23 acre-feet annually.
Replacement for all out-of-priority depletions will be covered by credits from excess credits from the
North Sterling Irrigation District. Enclosed is the proposed monthly accounting for the SWSP operation.
There are no well located within 600 feet of the gravel mine. The renewal of this SWSP pursuant to the
conditions established herein will not result in injury to senior water rights on the S th Platte River.
S" sere ,
f
orrest Leaf, ,
Enclosures (Figure 1, Tables 1 - 4, monthly accounting form)
cc: Galen Reese
Water Rights • Hydrology • Hydraulics • Water Quality
E:\LeaRReese\Engincering\Correspondence\Rcese Pit 09-10 SWSP Renewal v2 09 09 023.doc
2
