DILL PIT
Exhibit C
e) The major components of the mining operation are limited. Access to the pit
will be by County Road 189. County road 189 connects to Highway 24. This distance is
approximately 0.20 miles. There will be no office or shop/maintenance facility. There
may be some storage sheds and trailers. The equipment to be used on the site can be
loaders, trucks, belly dump, end dump, dozer, grader (maintainer), scraper, track hoe, flat
bed trucks (low boys), asphalt lay down machine, a screening and/or wash plant, an
asphalt hot plant, and portable scales. The production will be based on the demand
needed and is anticipated to vary from year to year, depending on the scheduling of larger
projects. Since this is a dry open pit operation there will be no underground openings
such as adits or ventilation facilities. The exhibit "E" map shows the pertinent details.
f) There are no existing significant disturbance to the land surface. There will be
no mine benches, impoundments, or waste rock disposal areas.
g) A new access road from County Road 189 to the pit is needed and will be part
of the 9.9 acre area. No improvements on existing roads are needed, but a driveway
across the borrow ditch will need to be constructed. Because the driveway will be located
at the top of a hill, a culvert will not be needed. All storm water will be kept on-site by
the pit and low earthen berms as needed. There will be no associated drainage or runoff
conveyance structures to be built with this operation. All drainage will be directed
toward the face of the active pit.
h) The only water to be used will be that amount possibly necessary for dust
control which can be supplied by the operator. If material washing is needed, the water
will be supplied from off-site or from an existing pond on the property. Typically, no
water for processing of material will be required. Sanitary water will not be used or
needed. Porta-John Toilets to be used. Drinking water will be bottled and imported to
the site daily when people are working.
i) The pit will be excavated to a total depth of approximately 12 to 25 feet, to
groundwater. The pit will not be excavated into the groundwater encountered. The sand
and gravel deposits will be excavated to approximately one foot above the groundwater
depth and as far laterally as possible. The existing overburden soils on the property will
be used to construct the needed final 3 H:1 V slopes. The only water involved will be that
amount on the surface of the permit area and a Stormwater Discharge Permit will be
acquired to deal with this small amount. All fuel storage containers will have
containment structures.
