Explosives
Deserado Mine installed a 4'X4'X4' prefabricated Type II explosives magazine with associated cap
magazine at the explosive storage site. This magazine is for temporary storage of explosives, which
is permitted in the Deserado permit. Deserado Mine has renewed the ATF permit to store explosives
onsite. This permit was noted during the inspection of records and a copy of the permit will be
provided to the Division.
Processina Waste
Refuse Pile - 2/3/4 contained stockpiled refuse to be spread and compacted at the time of the
inspection. Grading appeared to allow good run-off to ponds. Slight downcutting was noted on the
north side of the pile. The downcutting is not substantial at this point, but should be monitored.
Refuse Pile -5 was well compacted and stable at the time of the inspection. Both sites appeared to
show good run-off to the ponds via the collection ditches.
Support Facilities
Surface facilities in and around the office and maintenance facilities appeared to be in compliance.
No problems were noted.
The area around the rock dust tank RDH-2 was stable at the time of the inspection with no problems
noted.
The load out area was stable at the time of the inspection. No problems were noted.
The area in and around the slot storage appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection. No
erosion was noted on the pad or the slopes of the pad at the time of the inspection.
General Mine Plan Compliance
Return Shaft 4 has been completed as permitted. This sight is enclosed in a chain-linked fence with
appropriate signage in place. Casing remains at the sight to be utilized for future drilling activities
under the TR67 and MR142 applications.
Return Shaft 3 was temporarily sealed to aid in the extinguishing of the GOB fire in 2007. This shaft
will be reclaimed in the fall of 2009. The sight will be regarded and topsoiled at that point.
B Vent Shaft 3 continues to seal the space between the annulus and the shaft. The topsoil pile will
require signage and revegetation at the completion of the maintenance operations at this site.
1
Return Shaft 4 B Vent Shaft#3
