0 The operator commits to clearly marking the permit boundary with stakes surveyed on site. <br />The site will use all existing roads to haul the product to its final destination. It is planned that the <br />mined material may be used to re-surface existing roads, make concrete aggregate or provide new <br />road base for any new roads within an economic distance to the site. <br />Several hazardous materials will be stored and used onsite throughout the project. These materials <br />include products primarily associated with diesel motors. <br />If any "reportable quantity" of hazardous material or waste is released into the environment, the <br />operator will notify staff of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety as well as <br />all other appropriate local, state, and federal agencies. This is more completely described by an <br />excerpt from the February 8, 2002 DRMS memorandum regarding Minerals Program Notification <br />of Toxic or Hazardous Materials Spills at Mine Sites." <br />"A reportable spill is a spill of any toxic or hazardous substance (including spills of petroleum <br />products) within the permit area reportable to any Division of the Colorado Department of Public <br />Health and the Environment, the national Response Center, the Colorado Emergency Planning <br />Committee, or the State Oil Inspector. The operator shall notify the Office of a reportable spill <br />within the permit area using the same timeframe required by the permit, license, notice, Act, Rule <br />or Regulation governing the reporting of the spill to the appropriate agency. Notice of a reportable <br />spill shall be Faxed to: Minerals Program Supervisor, Division of Reclamation, Mining, and <br />Safety, FAX (303) 832-8106. The FAX shall include a call-back number of a responsible company <br />official for the DRMS staff to use as a contact." <br />4. Topsoil and Overburden Handling <br />Topsoil on the site is approximately 4 inches thick and overburden runs from approximately 6' in <br />the current pit to an anticipated 10' at the northern extents of mining. Initial topsoil stripped from <br />new mining areas will be used to reclaim currently disturbed areas. Existing topsoil stockpiles <br />0 from the 110 Permit will be used for final reclamation. <br />Korinek #1 Pit August 2009 D-7
