File No. M-2009-048, Adequacy Review V
Dear Mr. Marshall:
The following response addresses the issues raised in your Adequacy Review dated
August 19, 2009.
1. EXHIBIT C- Pre-mining and Mine Plan Map
• Enclosed are revised Exhibit C maps with requested changes.
2. EXHIBIT D-Mining Plan
• A dozer will be used to remove the topsoil by pushing it into a windrow. It then
will be picked up and stockpiled using loaders and trucks. Topsoil and
overburden stockpiles will be stabilized by compaction using wheel loaders.
• A maximum of two pits will be in operation at any given time with a combined
maximum disturbance of 12 acres.
• Ground water will be pumped directly to the River in a pipe. The area to be f
mined is trenched, and the water is pumped from the trench to the River. The
pipe will be placed on top the ground.
3. EXHIBIT E-Reclamation Plan
• When the first area of a pit is mined, the overburden is stockpiled. After mining
has been completed in an area of approximately one half acre, the overburden
from the next are to be mined is placed in the previously mined area to flatten
slopes or backfill the area. Stockpiled overburden is placed in a previously mined
area where and when it is needed. Overburden will be compacted using haul tucks
and loaders.
