AWN,
amle
Earth & Environmental
3) Topsoil Relocation
One John Deere 850 excavator was loading CAT 777 haul trucks with topsoil. Topsoil was
transported to the designated topsoil stockpile adjacent to the LOB Delivery Road. One CAT
D-9 was assisting the excavator.
C) Overburden to Stockpile:
1) VLF
Oversize rock within in the VLF fill area was stockpiled using a CAT D-9 dozer for future haul
to the Joe Dandy Main Cresson Backfill.
Rockbreakers: Shot hole drilling was completed between stations A17+50 (+/-) to A20+00(+/-)
using four Tamrock track mounted drill rigs. The shots were fired on Thursday and Friday.
2) VLF Subgrade Preparation
Subgrade preparation was performed between stations A43+00 (+/-) and A47+50 (+/-),
approximately 100 to 350-feet left of centerline. The site encompasses an area approximately
350 feet in length and approximately 75 to 100 feet in width.
Subgrade preparation was performed between stations A24+50 (+/-) and A26+00 (+/-),
A27+50 (+/-) and A30+50 (+/-), A36+00 (+/-) and A39+00 (+/-), approximately 75-feet right
of centerline. The site encompasses a total area of approximately 750-feet in length and
approximately 75-feet in width.
Subgrade preparation was performed between stations A20+00 (+/-) and A23+50 (+/-),
approximately 75 to 100-feet left of centerline. The site encompasses an area of approximately
300 to 350-feet in length and 125-feet wide.
All unsuitable material from the sites was loaded using one CAT 375 excavator and
transported using articulating 40-Ton haul trucks to a designated site within the mine property.
The sites were scarified to a depth of 12 to18-inches using a CAT D-10 dozer and moisture
conditioned using a CAT 773-water truck.
3) VLF, PSSA Haul Road
No work performed during the week.
D) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
Structural Fill was excavated from the LOB Delivery Road cut from stations 1+00 (+/-) to
3+00 (+/-), and the proposed water storage tank location. Structural fill was placed on the VLF
between stations K2+50 (+/-) and K9+00 (+/-), 0 to 100 feet right of the shoulder of the PSSA
Haul Road using available CAT 777 and 40-Ton articulating haul trucks. Structural Fill was
placed using one CAT D-8 dozer. Lift thickness was 18 to 24-inches (based on rock size).
Field observations indicated there was greater than 30% rock retained on the 3/4 -inch sieve.
Moisture conditioning of the fill was performed using a CAT 773-water truck. Each lift was
compacted with a smooth drum vibratory roller a minimum of four passes over the entire
surface (method compaction technique is applicable). Ambient temperatures were observed
during fill placement.
Sheet 2 of 6
VLF Weekly Report WE 05.23.09.D
