MORGAN SAND AND GRAVEL, INC.
21215 HWY. 52
FORT MORGAN, CO 80701
970-867-8074
PLANT 3 MILES NORTH OF FORT MORGAN ON HIGHWAY 52
4. The earth dam failed.
The dam was earth made with the amount of rain we had there was no way to stop what
happened. What we would like to do is.
#A: Install a silt fence on South property line.
#B: Use straw bales that are 4'by 4' by 8' placed every 80 feet to retain the silt and allow
the water to pass through. We would be placing 5 different sets of straw bales in the
natural runoff waterway to retain sediment.
#C: To retain all silt we would dig a 4-foot deep hole on the waterside of straw bales.
5: Storm water was being detained.
With the amount of rainfall, that we had in 3 weeks was 27 inches. There have only been
a couple of years in the last 30 that I can remember any rainwater standing in the pit.
With the average rainfall is around 5" to 6" a year. Therefore, I do not see the need for a
water discharge permit. If the board thinks that one is needed M S & G will file for one.
Sincerely,
Greg Westhoff
President
Morgan Sand and Gravel, Inc.
