amec
Earth 8 Environmental
E) Slope Contouring
1) VLF
Slope contouring was performed between stations A12+00 (+/-) and A18+00 (+/-),
approximately 100 to 300 feet left of centerline. Contouring was performed using a CAT D-10
dozer and a CAT D-9 dozer. Material generated as the cut progressed was pushed down the
slope.
F) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
Overburden was hauled to the overburden stockpile area east of the east perimeter road near
stations A28+00 (+/-) to A36+00 (+/-) from between stations A9+00 (+/-) and A10+75 (+/-),
approximately 40 to 100 feet left of centerline. Overburden was hauled using 40-ton haul
trucks loaded by a John Deere 850 excavator.
Oversize rock within the Phase 5 VLF fill area was removed from fill areas and hauled to the
overburden stockpile area east of the east perimeter road near stations A28+00 (+/-) to A36+00
G) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A John Deere 850D excavator, a Komatsu 800 excavator, and a CAT 375 excavator were used
to excavate structural fill material from the following areas: between stations A6+50 (+/-) and
A11+50 (+/-), approximately 50 to 150 feet left of centerline; between stations E1+00 (+/-) and
E2+00 (+/-), approximately 75 to 100 feet right of centerline; between stations H28+00 (+/-)
and H30+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet right of centerline; between J0+00 (+/-) and
J10+00 (+/-), approximately 50 to 200 feet right of centerline; and between stations J20+00
(+/-) and J21+50 (+/-), approximately 40 to 50 right of centerline. The structural fill material
was transported using 777 haul trucks and 40-ton articulating haul trucks.
Structural fill was placed between stations A38+00 (+/-) and A40+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to
250 feet left of centerline. Structural fill was placed using CAT dozers in 18" to 24" lifts
(based on rock size). Moisture conditioning of the fill was performed using a CAT 773-water
truck (when necessary). Each lift was compacted with a 10-ton smooth drum vibratory
compactor passing over the entire surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is
applicable).
Structural fill was placed between stations E3+00 (+/-) and E12+00 (+/-), approximately 150 to
200 feet left of centerline.
Structural fill was placed between stations F8+00 (+/-) and F 10+00 (+/-), approximately 150 to
200 feet left of centerline. Structural fill was placed using CAT dozers in 18" to 24" lifts
(based on rock size).
