Cattany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />Re: Gunnison River Gravel Pits, File No. M-2009-0048, c Construction Materials Reclamation Permit <br />Application Package, Preliminary Adequacy Review. <br />Dear Mr. Settle: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has begun the review process for the above referenced 112 <br />amendment application. The project appears to be a straight forward request to permit a construction materials <br />operation. A review of the application has revealed a few clarifications and issues that need to be addressed. <br />1. EXHIBIT C - Pre'-mining and Mine Plan Maps Map (Rule 6.4.3(e)): Please provide a revised <br />map(s) that include corrections/clarification for the following items: <br />• Identify the existing type of present vegetation covering the affected lands. <br />• Note the location of any significant, valuable, and permanent man-made structures within two <br />hundred (200) feet of the affected area such as houses, barns, fences, above or below ground <br />utilities, irrigation ditches, maintained or public roads, bridges, wells, pipelines, water storage <br />impoundments, railroad tracks, cemeteries, and communication antennas. <br />• Please outline and label all major surface features to be used in connection with the proposed <br />operation such as: existing and proposed roads, pit boundary, topsoil stockpiles, overburden <br />stockpiles, product stockpiles, waste rock fills, stream channels, buildings, processing plant, <br />scales, ponds, impoundments, dewatering pumps, diversions, tail or waste disposal areas. <br />• Please indicate the direction that mineral extraction will proceed and outline and clearly label <br />permit boundaries. <br />• Per Rule 6.2.1(2)(b), all maps must be prepared and signed by a registered land surveyor, <br />professional; engineer or other qualified person. Please sign all revised maps before submitting <br />to this office. <br />2. EXHIBIT D - Mining Plan (Rule 6.4.4): Please provide clarification for the following items: <br />• Per Rule 3.1.9, where it is necessary to remove overburden in order to mine the construction <br />material, topsoil shall be removed and segregated from other spoil.
