(Mining Plan page 3)
Size of Area to be worked at any one time:
Moffat County expects to be in this clay pit for 20 years. It will be a small producer
compared to normal gravel pits in our system. We have designated storage areas for
topsoil, overburden, and clay products, and we will also store some materials in the
excavated pit area as well. While we will try to reclaim some of the disturbed area as we
proceed with the mining, our experience tells us that we do a better job when we
complete the mining, then grade and seed all of the disturbed area at one time.
We expect that at least 15 acres of the permit will be disturbed before we close it out and
reclaim it.
Spill Reporting:
Moffat County has regular safety training meetings concerning the spill reporting
requirements for Rule 3.1.13 and Rule 8 - Emergency Notification by Operators and
Emergency Response Authority of the office. In addition, there are posters displayed on
toxic and hazardous materials facilities, including fuel storage facilities, with instructions
on how and where to report spills from those facilities.
