approximately 4,600 cubic yards of remaining capacity. This material will be placed as discussed in Exhibit 40. The
cut material volume is less than 1 percent of the total volume of overburden to be moved during final reclamation
• (290,000 cubic yards), and is not being removed from 5A area, so final contours are not being adjusted.
No. 9 Office/Shoe Building - The No. 9 Office/Shop Building was used to support the limited mining operations
associated with the no. 9 Portals. The No. 9 Office/Shop Building was demolished, the resulting demolition debris
placed in the permitted solid waste facility at the No. 9 Portal location, and the associated disturbance area topsoiled
and reseeded, in 2008.
Empire Village Farm Building - The Empire Village Farm Building was used for storage of site-maintenance and
reclamation equipment and supplies. The Empire Village Farm Building was demolished, the resulting demolition
debris placed in the permitted solid waste facility at the No. 9 Portal location, and the associated disturbance area
topsoiled and reseeded, in 2008.
Pole Barn - Historically, a pole barn was located in the No. 5A supply yard and was used for equipment and materials
storage. The structure has been removed from the site.
Construction drawings of many of the facilities listed above were included in previous RAG EC permit submittals
(1983). Since these facilities are now in place and have been approved by the appropriate Government agencies, these
drawings have been deleted from this submittal.
ANCILLARY FACILITIES
Ancilliary facilities include the railroad track scale, miscellaneous light-duty roads, and miscellaneous storage yards.
These facilities are shown on the Structures and Renewable Resources Map (Map 25).
• COAL HANDLING/STORAGE FACILITIES
The major components of the coal handling/storage facilities include:
• No. 5A Conveyor
• 48-inch Overland Conveyor
• Stacking Tube
• Primary Raw Coal Stockpile
• 20,000 Ton Raw Coal Stockpile
• Reclaim Tunnel and Conveyor
• Screening and Sizing Building
• 36-inch Overland Conveyors
• Raw Coal Storage Conveyor
• 10,000 Ton Storage Silo
Coal produced from the No. 6 mine is transported by a 48 inch Slope Conveyor through the No. 5A portal to a 48-inch
overland conveyor. The 48-inch Overland Conveyor transports the coal across State Highway 13 and the Williams
Fork River to the Stacking Tube and Primary Raw Coal Stockpile. The Stacking Tube and coal stockpile are located
near the No. 5 Portal area.
No. 5A Conveyor - Once the overland belt was put in, all coal from the No. 5 mine longwall system was transported
to the facilities area via the No. 5A Conveyor. All coal from the No. 6 mine is transferred via this same conveyor. The
No. 5A Slope Conveyor leaves the No. 5A Portals and terminates at a transfer building which transfers the coal to the
• 48-inch Overland Conveyor.
Permit Renewal RN08-05 2.05-10 01/15/09
