Y
amen
Earth & Environmental
E) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A John Deere 850D excavator, a Komatsu 800 excavator, a CAT 375 excavator, and a CAT
385 track excavator excavated structural fill material from the following areas: between
stations J22+00 (+/-) and J23+50 (+/-), approximately 0 to 100 feet left of centerline; between
stations J10+00 (+/-) and J14+00 (+/-), approximately 200 to 400 feet left of centerline;
between stations H26+00 (+/-) and H32+50 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet right of
centerline; between stations A8+00 (+/-) and A10+00 (+/-), approximately 30 feet left of
centerline to 30 feet right of centerline; between A22+00 (+/-) and A23+50 (+/-),
approximately 75 to 300 feet right of centerline; and between stations A44+00 (+/-) and
A46+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 50 left of centerline. The structural fill material was
transported using 777 haul trucks and 40-ton articulating haul trucks.
Structural fill was placed between stations A38+00 (+/-) and A47+00 (+/-), approximately 100
feet right of centerline to 300 feet left of centerline. Structural fill was placed using CAT
dozers in 18" to 24" lifts (based on rock size). Moisture conditioning of the fill was performed
using a CAT 773-water truck. Each lift was compacted with a 10-ton smooth drum vibratory
compactor passing over the entire surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is
applicable).
Structural fill was placed between stations A22+00 (+/-) and A26+00 (+/-), approximately 50
feet left of centerline to 100 feet right of centerline. Structural fill was placed using CAT
dozers in 18" to 24" lifts (based on rock size). Moisture conditioning of the fill was performed
using a CAT 773-water truck. Each lift was compacted with a 10-ton smooth drum vibratory
compactor passing over the entire surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is
applicable).
Structural fill was placed between stations K9+00 (+/-) and K13+50 (+/-), approximately 40
right of centerline to 40 feet left of centerline. Structural fill was placed using CAT dozers in
18" to 24" lifts (based on rock size). Moisture conditioning of the fill was performed using a
CAT 773-water truck. Each lift was compacted with a 10-ton smooth drum vibratory
compactor passing over the entire surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is
applicable).
Structural fill was placed between stations 1-18+00 (+/-) and H12+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to
100 feet right of centerline. Structural fill was placed using CAT dozers in 18" to 24" lifts
(based on rock size). Moisture conditioning of the fill was performed using a CAT 773-water
truck. Each lift was compacted with a 10-ton smooth drum vibratory compactor passing over
the entire surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is applicable).
Slope scaling and slope preparation were performed through out the week using a CAT 345
excavator and a CAT 330 excavator.
Drilling and blasting was performed between stations A14+52 (+/-) and A17+80 (+/-),
approximately 10 feet right of centerline. Drilling was performed using two track mounted drill
rigs. This area was shot Tuesday, 7/14/2009.
Sheet 2 of 6
VLF Weekly Report WE 07.18.09.D.doc
