amec*O
Earth & Environmental
D) Subgrade Preparation
1) VLF
No work performed during the week.
E) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A John Deere 850D excavator, a Komatsu 800 excavator, a CAT 375 excavator, and a CAT
385 track excavator excavated structural fill material from the following areas: between
stations J20+00 (+/-) and J23+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 100 feet left of centerline; between
stations H24+00 (+/-) and H31+50 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet right of centerline;
between stations A8+50 (+/-) and A13+00 (+/-), approximately 40 left of centerline to 40 feet
right of centerline; between stations A25+00 (+/-) and A26+00 (+/-), approximately 25 feet left
of centerline to 100 feet right of centerline; and between A44+00 (+/-) and A46+00 (+/-),
approximately 0 to 30 feet left of centerline. The structural fill material was transported using
777 haul trucks and 40-ton articulating haul trucks.
Structural fill was placed between stations A36+00 (+/-) and A38+00 (+/-), approximately 30
feet right of centerline to 75 feet left of centerline. Structural fill was placed using CAT dozers
in 18" to 24" lifts (based on rock size). Moisture conditioning of the fill was performed using a
CAT 773-water truck. Each lift was compacted with a 10-ton smooth drum vibratory
compactor passing over the entire surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is
applicable).
Structural fill was placed between stations A45+00 (+/-) and A48+00 (+/-), approximately 200
to 400 feet left of centerline. Structural fill was placed using CAT dozers in 18" to 24" lifts
(based on rock size). Moisture conditioning of the fill was performed using a CAT 773-water
truck. Each lift was compacted with a 10-ton smooth drum vibratory compactor passing over
the entire surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is applicable).
Structural fill was placed between stations K8+00 (+/-) and K13+00 (+/-), approximately 40
right of centerline to 150 feet left of centerline. Structural fill was placed using CAT dozers in
18" to 24" lifts (based on rock size). Moisture conditioning of the fill was performed using a
CAT 773-water truck. Each lift was compacted with a 10-ton smooth drum vibratory
compactor passing over the entire surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is
applicable).
Structural fill was placed between stations F 10+50 (+/-) and F 12+00 (+/-), approximately 30 to
125 feet left of centerline.
Structural fill was placed between stations 1-19+00 (+/-) and H12+00 (+/-), approximately 50 to
100 feet right of centerline. Structural fill was placed using CAT dozers in 18" to 24" lifts
(based on rock size).
