ame
Earth & Environmental
Slope scaling was performed between stations A18+00 (+/-) and 26+00 (+/-), approximately 50
to 75 feet right of centerline using a CAT 345 excavator.
Drill pattern blasting was performed at the new ADR tank pad excavation.
F) Sediment Collection Pond
The Sediment pond construction was completed this week. Monday (6/15/2009) the majority
of the soil liner fill surface, excluding the southeast corner, was inspected and accepted for
riprap placement by an AMEC representative. Riprap was loaded in 40-ton articulating haul
trucks at the Arequa process area using a CAT 966 front-end loader. The riprap was placed in a
12" lift over the soil liner fill surface using a CAT D-6 dozer. An 18" HDPE pump back tube
was placed in the northwest corner prior to riprap placement. Soil liner fill was placed in the
southeast corner of the pond when the riprap placement progressed far enough to remove the
access ramp in the area. The soil liner fill surface was inspected and accepted by an AMEC
representative for riprap placement. Riprap was placed in the southeast corner of the pond in a
12" lift using a CAT D-6 dozer. A CAT 966 front-end loader and a John Deere 35D excavator
were used to construct a safety berm and clean-up excess construction materials around the
pond.
G) Material Processing
1) South Cresson Clay Processing Area
Processing of Soil Liner Fill material continued at the South Cresson Clay Process. A CAT D-
6 dozer, a CAT 320 excavator, and a CAT 966 front-end loader were used to process the
material.
Location This Week
tons Cumulative
tons Comments
So Cresson Cla Processing 4,261 32,774
Squaw Gulch Processing - 35,816 Processing in area com lete.
Total 0 63,969
H) Miscellaneous
Installation of the LOB Storm Water Culverts continued using a CAT 345 excavator, a jumping
jack compactor, and a walk-behind sheep's foot compactor. Fifty four feet of 42" CMP culvert was
installed for both culverts (108 feet total). A CAT 345 track excavator was used to excavate a
trench for the culvert installation and 6" of pipe bedding material was placed in the trench bottom.
The pipe bedding material was moisture conditioned and compacted using a walk-behind sheep's
foot compactor. Pipe bedding material was used to backfill each side and between the culverts in
12" compacted lifts, bringing the backfill up evenly. The material was moisture conditioned and
compacted using a jumping jack compactor and a walk behind sheep's foot compactor. The area
was backfilled to two-feet above the installed culverts. Nine nuclear density tests were performed
using with results averaging 96% of maximum dry density. Moisture-density relations were
performed in accordance with ASTM D-698-07.
III) Underground Working
A) Drilling
No work performed during the week.
Sheet 3 of 7
VLF Weekly Report WE 06.20.09.D.doc
