Cattany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, <br />Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on December 26, 2007, an application to renew an existing permit to <br />conduct coal mining operations at the North Thompson Creek Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All <br />review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date <br />of filing. <br />MINREC, Inc. proposes to continue reclamation operations on land located approximately 10 miles southwest of Carbondale, <br />Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: T8S, R89W; Portions of Sections 21, 22, 27, 28, 33, 34 and 35, <br />T9S, R89W; Portions of Sections 2, 3 and 4, T7S, R88W; Portions of Sections 20, 29, 30 and 32. The above-mentioned tracts <br />of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Stony Ridge, Carbondale and Cattle Creek. <br />The above referenced permit renewal application does not incorporate additional lands into the permit area. Your comments <br />and concerns relating to the adequacy of fish and wildlife resources information, the fish and wildlife plan, and the reclamation <br />plan as it relates to fish and wildlife considerations, including potential impacts to threatened or endangered species, are <br />requested.. If wildlife habitat is the proposed postmining land use, we request your evaluation of proposed woody plant stocking <br />levels, planting arrangements, and methods for mitigation of potential adverse impacts. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Garfield County Clerk and Recorder, 109 8th Street, <br />Suite 200, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601, and at the Division office, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado <br />80203, (303) 866-3567. <br />In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted to the Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety at the above address by February 24, 2008.
