amec'
Earth 8 Environmental
B) LOB Storm Water Culverts
Installation of the 42" culvert began this week. A trench for the culverts was excavated
approximately halfway across the existing haul road using a CAT 345 excavator. Pipe Bedding
Material was placed in the trench using a CAT 345 excavator. The material was then moisture
conditioned and compacted using a walk-behind sheep's foot compactor. Three nuclear density
tests were performed with results averaging 97% of maximum dry density. Two 60-foot runs (four
30 foot sections) were installed on the Pipe Bedding Material. Pipe bedding material was then
placed in 12" compacted lifts on each side and between the culverts, bringing the backfill up
evenly. Three nuclear density tests were performed as the backfill progressed with results
averaging 96% of maximum dry density. Installation of the culverts will continue into next week.
CQA ACTIVITIES:
SUMMARY:
Field Observation Summary
The CQA activities performed consisted of observing, documenting and recording the construction
activities of the contractor.
AMEC observed fill placement on the LOB Pad and LOB Delivery Road throughout the week.
AMEC observed confirmatory drilling north of Underground Working #2016.
AMEC observed the ongoing remediation of Underground Workings #2016 and #2040.
AMEC observed the LOB Storm Water Culvert installation.
AMEC observed excavation from Conveyor Corridor #3, including Underground workings located in the
area.
Laboratory Testing Summary
Laboratory testing continues (Particle Size Distribution, Atterberg Limits, and Moisture-Density
Compaction testing) for sampled materials. A summary of sampled materials and test results is available
upon request.
GENERAL PROJECT ITEMS
Summary of Concerns:
No Concerns
Summary of Planning Items:
Cut and fill will continue at Conveyor Corridor #3.
Remediation of Underground Workings #2016 and #2040 will continue.
Final grading of the LOB Delivery Road is to continue.
Remediation of the stope between #2015 and #2016 will continue.
Summary of Non-conformances:
Sheet 3 of 8
LOB Weekly Report WE 06.06.09.D.doc
