Hydrologic Balance (cont.): - Sediment Ponds SH-P1 and SH-132, by the old farm shop,
were both dry at the time of the inspection. Both embankments were well
vegetated and appeared to be stable. No erosional problems were noted on either
pond embankment at the time of the inspection.
- Sediment Pond 5A-P1, just below the 5A portals, was dry at the time of the
inspection. The pond embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable.
No erosional problems were noted on the pond embankment at the time of the
inspection. The ditch from the 100,000 gallon water tank above the portal bench
was also dry and appeared to be stable as well.
- Sediment Ponds 9-P1 and 9-P6, by the newly permitted solid waste disposal area,
were both dry at the time of the inspection. These ponds collect the runoff from the
solid waste disposal area and the adjacent refuse pile. Both pond embankments
were well vegetated and appeared to be stable. No erosional problems were noted
on either pond embankment at the time of the inspection.
Backfilling and Grading: - The backfilled #4 portal area appeared to be stable at the
time of the inspection. There was no noticeable settling and there were no erosional
problems.
- The solid waste disposal area appeared to remain stable. There was no settling or
cracking of the backfill noted at the time of the inspection. The area was well
graded and reports to a sediment pond.
Processing Waste: - The refuse pile by the solid waste disposal area has been
covered, topsoiled and reseeded. The area is well graded and drains to the
adjacent sediment ponds. There are no problems with rills due to the recent rains.
The grasses are growing very well because it has been very wet lately.
- The other refuse pile just north of this one also remained stable. This, pile appeared
to have positive drainage and there was no water pooling on the surface of the pile
at the time of the inspection.
Support Facilities: - The 5A portal area appeared to be in good condition at the time
of the inspection. No erosional or other problems were noted.
Revegetation: - The reseeded solid waste disposal area is doing well. Many of the
grasses are now starting to come up and there are fewer weeds than there were last
year.
Overall the Eagle Mine is in good condition. This concludes the 19 June 2009
