As a result, there is the possibility that as yet unidentified cultural resources which are eligible for the NRHP exist within the permit area. Our office is particularly concerned about the potential effects of underground mine subsidence on the aforementioned and presently unknown sites within the permit area. Sites 5RT938 and 5RT941 are particularly at risk, in light of the significant damage mine subsidence has already caused to the prehistoric rock art at sites 5RT345, 5RT939, and 5RT940. However, the potential effect of mine subsidence and other impacts related to the mining operation should be determined for those sites identified within the area of potential effect (APE) which are eligible for or listed on the NRHP. The potential effect of the mining operation on each potentially eligible site should also be determined unless additional investigation indicates that it is not eligible for the NRHP.
