III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
cm.)fenced plots, as opposed to shallow soil or non-topsoiled plots. In addition to numerous robust bitterbrush
plants in the deep soil plot, several serviceberry plants (apparently from seed) have also become established.
The elk fence was down at the NE corner, and there were gaps in a few other locations. It did not appear
that elk or deer had found their way into the plots, but the fence needs to be repaired as soon as
possible.
Over-all vegetation establishment on the steep slopes of the PM-8 watershed has improved over the last several
years, but there are areas with significant noxious weed infestations (mostly Canada thistle and houndstongue)
and minimal cover of desirable perennials, mostly on the lower slopes, areas subject to previous erosion repair,
and locations to the east of PM-8. Treatment of these infestations will be necessary, and interseeding may
be warranted in some locations.
5
