COR-040000 Stormwater Management Plan
0 5. COMPREHENSIVE INSPECTIONS (COR-040000, §I.B.5 AND §I.D.5):
Denison will conduct comprehensive inspections at least twice a year (spring and fall) in
accordance with the requirements of the general permit in order to ensure that the facility is
complying with the requirements and guidelines prescribed in the SWMP and that the SWMP
reflects current conditions and operations at the facility. The Comprehensive Inspections will be
conducted by qualified personnel possessing the knowledge and skills to assess conditions and
activities that could impact stormwater quality at the facility and who can evaluate the
effectiveness of BMPs selected. These qualified personnel will be selected by the SWMP
Administrator.
a) Active Mining Operations
In addition to the inspections required by the preventive maintenance program in Section 4.c,
qualified personnel identified by the SWMP Administrator will make a thorough inspection
of the stormwater management system at the Van 4 Shaft site, at least twice per year (spring
and fall). Where semi-annual site inspections are shown in the plan to be impracticable
because an employee is not stationed at or does not routinely visit the site, inspections will be
conducted at appropriate intervals that will be specified in this Plan, but never less than once
in two years. These inspections will be documented and summarized in the Annual Report
(see Section 8).
• b) Inactive Mining Operations
If the Van 4 Shaft becomes inactive, then the following inspection procedures will apply:
Qualified personnel identified by the SWMP Administrator will make a thorough inspection
of the stormwater management system at the Van 4 Shaft site, at least once per year. Where
annual inspections are shown in the plan to be impracticable, because an employee is not
stationed at or does not routinely visit the site, an inspection will be conducted at least once
every three years by a Registered Professional Engineer. The inspector will certify that the
site is in compliance with the plan. If the site is not in compliance with the plan, it will be
brought into compliance, reinspected, and plan compliance then certified by the inspector.
These inspections will be documented and summarized in the Compliance Report (see
Section 8).
c) Inspection Requirements for All Operations
Inspections for active and inactive mining operations will include the following:
1) Disturbed areas, areas used for material storage or handling that are exposed to
precipitation, and other potential sources of pollution identified in this plan will be
inspected for evidence of, or the potential for, pollutants entering the drainage system.
Erosion and sediment control measures and other structural pollution prevention
• measures identified in this plan will be observed to ensure that they are operating
correctly.
Van 4 Shaft SWMP 16 Denison Mines (USA) Corp.
