COR-040000 Stormwater Management Plan
• Denison plans to ship any solid waste from surface operations to appropriately permitted off-
site disposal facilities. There are no plans to construct any on-site solid waste disposal units.
Temporary units are used for sanitary waste.
Materials management and spill prevention techniques are essential to prevent pollution of
receiving drainages. Once pollution prevention measures are implemented, Denison is
responsible for maintaining good housekeeping practices on the project site. This section
discusses the specific BMPs that are critical to prevent discharge of stormwater pollutants to
receiving waters. Specification sheets for specific BMPs are provided in Appendix B to aid
in implementing and maintaining these practices. Emergency contacts for the project will be
posted at the project office and are included in Appendix C. In the event of a spill, a spill
report form should be completed (Appendix C). Non-sediment pollutants that may be
present during mining activities include:
• Petroleum products including fuel, lubricants, and hydraulic fluids
• Magnesium chloride and calcium chloride
• Ore host and development rock
These materials, and other materials used during project activity with the potential to impact
stormwater, will be stored, managed, used, and disposed of in a manner that minimizes the
potential for releases to the environment and especially into stormwater.
• I? General?Llalerialffa?sdli?rgPraclices
The following general practices will be used throughout the project to reduce the
potential for spills.
Potential pollutants will be stored in a secure location and used in a manner consistent
with the manufacturer's instructions. To the extent practicable, material storage areas
will not be located near storm drainage areas and may be equipped with covers, roofs,
or secondary containment as needed to prevent stormwater from contacting stored
materials. Chemicals that are not compatible shall be stored in segregated areas so
that spilled materials cannot combine and react.
• Material disposal will be in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and
applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Materials no longer required will be removed from the sites as soon as practicable.
• Adequate garbage, waste, and sanitary waste handling and disposal facilities will be
provided to the extent necessary to keep sites clear of obstruction and BMPs clear and
functional.
SpecificMalerialH,711a ingPractices
• Pollutants, including waste materials and demolition debris, will be handled in a way
that does not contaminate stormwater.
Van 4 Shaft SWMP 11 Denison Mines (USA) Corp.
