occur in La Plata County, Colorado. Table 3 provides information on the federally listed and
candidate species that are considered in this EA, including a brief description of habitat and the
potential for each species to occur in the proposed project area. With the exception of candidate
species, all of these species are protected under the ESA. According to the USFWS, there are ten
federally listed threatened or endangered species with potential to occur in La Plata County, and
one species considered a candidate for ESA listing. Of these eleven species, none have potential
to occur in the project area.
The habitat in the analysis area was evaluated for threatened, endangered and sensitive plants
in November 2007. No federally-listed plants have potential habitat in the analysis area.
Environmental Consequences
None of the listed species has potential to occur in the project area based on evaluation of habitat
associations and field surveys. Therefore, the Proposed Action will have "no effect" on any
federally listed species.
Mitigation
There are no additional design criteria or conservation measures for federally listed species.
Finding on the Public Land Health Standard for Threatened & Endangered Species
The finding on the Public Land Health Standard for threatened and endangered species is that the
project area is achieving the standard. All indicators associated with the plant and animal
communities' standard apply and substantiate this finding.
Table 3.
