STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION, MINING AND SAFETY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866.3567
FAX: (303) 832-8106
COLORADO
DIVISION OF
RECLAMATION
MINING
SAFETY
INTEROFFICE Go Ritter'''.
Governor
MEMORANDUM Harris D. Sherman
Executive Director

TO: Joe Dudash Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
FROM: Jim Star _
SUBJECT: Bowie No. 2 Mine's MR-104 Cost Estimate
DATE: 1 June 2009
Attached is the reclamation cost estimate for the Bowie No. 2 Mine's Minor Revision
104 - relocation of GVB-9B and associated drill pad and road spur. The estimate is
seven tasks (a summary sheet and tasks 351-356) and represents an increase in liability
of $22,486.00. This estimate is $12,936.00 more than the estimate provided by BRL (of
$9,550.00).
The Division's estimate is more than the estimate provided by BRL because the
Division's hourly costs to regrade the pads and roads and replace topsoil using a dozer is
more expensive than that used by BRL ($207.53/hour vs. $90.00/hour). Additionally, the
Division estimates the task time on an individual task basis while BRL uses a "canned"
number of hours per acre.
There was no change to the estimate for changing the plugging and sealing of GVB-9B
since this was included in TR-52.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need any additional information.
cc: Sandy Brown w/out attachments
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction 9 Duranao Artiva and Inartivc Minac
