• WATER INFORMATION EXHIBIT G
1. Pre-Mine Surface Water General Discussion
The surface water features within and near the permit area are several irrigation ditches. The
primary irrigation ditch runs north to south through the alfalfa fields approximately 180' east
from 6175 Road. A central ditch runs from an 8" culvert under 6175 Road across the fields to the
eastern slope. A ditch also runs along the south side of the property, along LaSalle Road. The
north-south running and central east-west ditches will be removed during mining, and the ditch
running along LaSalle Road will be rerouted around the property. No new discharges will be
installed, and the mining operation will not lead to any discharges, therefore no NPDES
discharge permits are required.
2. Groundwater
• A groundwater seep was identified east of the central portion of the permit. See Maps C-1 and
C-2. The mine will operate above the water table, and no groundwater will be encountered
throughout the operation. If any water or excessive dampness is encountered, the area will be
backfilled and no more mining in this area will occur near these elevations.
3. Wdrology and Sediment Control for Mining
Runoff will be contained on the site by topsoil berms as discussed in Exhibit D - Mining Plan.
All stormwater will be contained within the site and allowed to seep into the ground. Also,
mining will not take place below the water table, therefore no sediment pond will be required.
•
LaSalle Pit, April 09 G-1
