The report was subsequently completed in May 2008 and the
following summary of recommendations was provided by the engineer:
Topaz
• Ensure that the channels south of the site (off site drainage) have a depth of 2.5 feet and move the ditch
on the southeast side. Also check the vegetation in the channels (is there any yet?). Reseed the channel
in the fall.
West Sunday
• Construct channels south of the site (off site drainage) to a depth of 2.5 feet.
• Increase the height of the existing berm at the toe of the development rock area in areas if it is less than
1.5 feet high. Make sure that the berm is at least 1.5 feet high and connect any breached areas along the
berm.
• Construct a 40 foot wide, 170 foot long, and 5 foot deep catchment basin having 1.5:1 bank slope at the
north end of the development rock pile.
• Extend the existing berm along the western boundary toward the south to enclose any surface runoff
that would occur from the development rock area.
• Extend the existing constructed channel at the toe of the development rock area to the proposed
catchment basin.
St Jude
• Construct a 3 foot deep channel above (south) the mine site to divert off site flows around the site.
Reseed the channel in the fail.
