Christy Woodward
July 31, 2008
Page 6
trowel or shovel to a relatively shallow depth (e.g.,1 foot below ground surface). Background
soil sample collection will be conducted in accordance with the Colorado Department of
Public Health and Environment (CDHPE) Proposed Soil Remediation Objectives Polio,/ (CDPHE
1997; Attachment 4). Background soil samples will only be analyzed for total metals.
Field Activities, Methods, and Procedures
This section discusses sampling equipment and sampling procedures for development rock,
ore, and soil sampling.
Equipment and Supplies
The following :is a list of supplies needed to collect the samples:
¦ Track mounted hydraulic excavator or backhoe (for test pit/trench excavation)
¦ Hand shovel/ trowel or one-time use disposable scoop
• Pick axe
•
• Decontamination supplies, e.g. distilled water, liquinox or equivalent laboratory cleaner, •
and scrub brush for small equipment decontamination
• 1 gallon zip :lock bags
¦ 5-gallon buckets with lid
¦ Sample paperwork and sample tags/labels
¦ Sample cooler or suitable shipping container
Development Rock. Sample Collection
Subsurface development rock samples will be collected using a track-mounted excavator or
backhoe. Each of the three subsurface samples will be collected from individual trenches on
the development rock areas from a depth of approximately 2 to 4 feet. Sampling will be
conducted using the following procedure:
With the use of a track-mounted excavator or backhoe, dig three trenches approximately 4
feet deep and the width of the excavator bucket, perpendicular to the current face of each
development rock pile. Each trench should be approximately evenly spaced along the
major axis of each development rock pile. The length of each trench should be as long as
needed to adequately describe the characteristics of the area.. For each trench, place
excavated materials from 2 to 4 feet as uniformly as possible to enable sample collection
and USCS logging.
0
0:164986 - Denison%Task Order 3 - DMO Sampling and Analysis Plan\Task 3.1 - Soil Ore Rode Data Collee8on Plan\Rnal Denison Sunday Mines Group Sal Ore Rock Data
Caleclion Work Plan.doc
