• inspection, operations will cease or the faulty equipment will be removed. Unacceptable work
practices and/or faulty equipment will be remedied immediately, and the SHP will be modified
to address the deficiencies, if necessary. AMSO will allocate the required personnel to ensure
adequate health and safety provisions for project sites. AMSO personnel fulfilling the role of
SSHO are adequately trained and experienced to identify and correct safety and health
deficiencies related to site operation.
1,4 Program Organization
The AMSO SHP is comprised of several components, each of which directly contributes to
promoting the safety and health of AMSO employees and the protection of the environment.
Program organization is primarily based on written information as demonstrated by the
individual sections presented in this document. The SHP provides the primary critical
communicative tool to inform all employees of safety and health concerns at any work site. The
program informs and educates employees through the requirement that all AMSO employees
read and acknowledge that they understand the contents of this document. In addition, all
employees are encouraged to verbally reinforce the information provided in the SHP on a day-
is to-day basis and supplement safety and health information when applicable.
Following this introduction, the SHP as described in this document is organized as follows:
Section 2.0: A description of the roles and responsibilities of the program personnel.
Section 3.0: Safety and health requirements addressing employee conduct, personnel
training, short service employee program, permit-to-work process, medical monitoring,
drug policy, and subcontractor safety responsibilities.
Section 4.0: Recognition and mitigation of common safety hazards and site-specific
safety hazards.
Section S.o: Description of the measures used to control hazards.
« Section 6.0: Description and use of personnel protective equipment.
Section 7.0: Explanation of site control, decontamination, and disposal procedures.
Section 8.0: Procedures and protocols to ensure protection of the environment.
Section g.o: Elements of the AMSO Emergency Action Plan
Section io.o: List of acronyms and abbreviations used in the SHP.
