1.0 INTRODUCTION
Safety and health are the foundations of AMSO's commitment to our guiding principals of
"Technical Excellence, Respect for People, and Absolute Ethics". AMSO is dedicated to
providing a safe and healthy work environment for our employees, subcontractors, and visitors
at every work site. The AMSO Safety and Health Program (SHP) establishes the guidelines,
procedures and protocols designed to ensure our dedication to safety and health is maintained
throughout the performance of our work. The SHP was developed on the basis of our
experience, consultation with safety and health professionals, and input from our clients.
AMSO's SHP is a dynamic program and is updated as necessary to address new or changing
conditions encountered in our work.
The SHP covers a broad range of site conditions and situations, and not all components of the
program will apply at every site. When necessary, site-specific safety and health plans (SSHP)
incorporating the appropriate components of the SHP are prepared to guide operations at
individual sites. However, it is the responsibility of each AMSO employee to recognize what
safety and health issues apply at each project site and to reevaluate safety and health issues with
changing site conditions or with each work item or task. If a health and safety condition
develops that is not explicitly addressed in the SHP and SSHP, work should be stopped and the
Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) should be notified. Interim safety measures may be
implemented upon approval of the SSHO, and final health and safety measures will be prepared
and incorporated into the SHP and SSHP.
1,1 Purpose of the Safety and Health Program
AMSO is committed to providing a safe work environment for employees, subcontractors, and
visitors. This SHP was developed to fulfill the following objectives:
To familiarize potentially exposed employees and subcontractors with the specific
hazards associated with project sites.
Inform employees and subcontractors on the proper actions to be taken if a hazardous
condition cannot be avoided by engineering controls.
•
