SPCC PLAN <br />Fuel for drill rigs and other on-site equipment will be brought to the site by fuel trucks on an as- . <br />needed basis. All fueling will be done either within containment areas, or by utilizing other <br />secondary containment, such as drip pots/pans, trailer berms, fuel disconnect and drip berms„ and <br />spill pads as appropriate. <br />All fuel truck drivers are required to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) <br />regulations in 49 CFR Part 177 and facility standard operating procedures. The following <br />procedures will be used when refueling equipment: <br />• Turn off equipment to be fueled <br />• Ensure secondary containment is properly in place. <br />• Comiect ground wire and uncoil fuel hose <br />• Start and warm-up the fuel truck and engage power take-off (P.T.O.) <br />• Loosen fuel cap and turn pump on <br />Fuel equipment; using caution not to spill or over-fill (Do not leave fuel nozzle <br />unattended while pumping fuel 0 <br />Turn off Mel pump <br />• Turn off fuel truck <br />Roll up hose and disconnect ground wire <br />Equipment maintenance, such as oil changes, will be done within designated containment areas, <br />or by using appropriate containment equipment, as described above. <br />All materials will be stored in appropriate, labeled containers. <br />Since only small quantities of fuels and hazardous materials will be stored on site during Phase I, <br />release response equipment consists primarily of spill kits placed near all fueling and vehicle and <br />equipment maintenance areas. Spill kits include shovels, sorbent materials, gloves, and sealed <br />storage containers for proper disposal of contaminated soil and sorbent. <br /> <br />American Shale Oil, LLC 12
