1 <br />• <br />SECTION 5.6: SEDIMENT CONTROL <br />SC9: BRASH BARRIER <br />FIGURE SC 9.1 <br />Brush Barrier (Adapted from VEaSCH28) <br />Maintenance <br />and Inspection <br />• Inspect frequently during construction, and repair or replace promptly as <br />needed. <br />• Remove when they have served their usefulness, but not before the <br />upslope areas have been permanently stabilized. <br />• Sediment accumulated behind the barrier shall be removed when it <br />reaches half the exposed brush barrier height and disposed of properly. <br />• <br />5-70 <br />Excavate a 4" x 4" trench along the <br />uphill edge of the Brush Barrier. <br />Drape a geotextile over the hairier and <br />into the trench. The geotextile should be <br />secured in the trench with stakes set <br />approximately 36 " on center. <br />Backfill and compact the excavated soil. Set stakes along the downhill edge of the <br />barrier, and anchor by tying twine from the <br />geotextile to the stakes.
