MINED LAND RECLAMATION BOARD 110(2) ANNUAL REPORT
For Season 2008
COLORADO CALUMET COMPANY INCORPORATED
PERMIT NO. M-2006-034
Prepared: 15 March 2009
Submitted: 19 May 2009
Summary:
Colorado Calumet Company Inc. operated mechanized equipment on the Blue Streak No.
2 mining claim from 31 May through 7 June 2008 in Teller County, Colorado to produce
amazonite, smoky quartz, fluorite, goethite, and other related pegmatite mineral
specimens. A John Deere 992 track hoe was used along with an appropriate air
compressor and water buffalo. Mining occurred at Sites C and E. Both sites were
reclaimed at the completion of mining.
Man Depicting Operations:
Attached is a map which shows the four claims covered under this mining permit. The 14
permitted excavation sites are labeled by letters A through N and are indicated by dashed
lines, either rectangular or circular, on the map. An orange area within a permitted site
indicates an open excavation where work will resume during next season. Presently there
are none. Green shaded areas are excavations that have been refilled, re-contoured and
reseeded. Blue shaded areas would indicate reclamation over 80 percent recovered. No
sites are yet 80 percent recovered.
Current Disturbances (2008):
An area of 0.35 acre was disturbed during 2008, the remaining portion of Site E and all of
Site C. Both areas were filled, recontoured, and reseeded at the end of the season.
Reclamation Accomplished to Date (Including 2008):
A total of 1.18 acres has been disturbed and reclaimed since 2006. Both Sites A and B
were reclaimed in 2006. Sites C and E were reclaimed during 2008. Sites A and B are
nearing 80% regrowth.
Reclamation Accomplished During 2008:
Sites C and E were reclaimed. Both were reseeded. Thirty ponderosa pines were planted
on Site E. Additionally, 30 mixed meadow rose, wax currant, and mountain mahogany
were also planted. Site E showed minimal growth by October so both sites were reseeded.
Portions of Sites A and B were also reseeded. Growth was approaching 80 percent when
inspected during October. Tree and shrub survival rate on these two sites is good.
