-~ culverts, where required, designed to safely pass the 1-year,
6-has precipitation event. Light-use roads planned to be
used for a period of more than six months will utilize
culverts designed to safely pass the 10-year, 24-has
precipitation event (see Table 12-6, Culvert Statistics).
Ditches and drainage control will be established during
construction and maintenance of the roads to m?n;m;ze erosion
aryl to assist traffic passage.
4.03.3(3) Design aryl Constriction. Light-use roads will be field
4.03.3(5) engineered to follow the existing topography as much as
4.03.3(6) practicable. Topsoil will be removed arri stockpiled in
accordance with the topsoil salvage plan. The horizontal and
vertical alignment will be dictated by the topography and the
need to avid obstructions. Light-use road surfacing material
will be adetluate for the use of the road. Acid or
taxio-formvig substances will not be used in the road
• surfacing. Light-use roads Will be maintained to m;nimize
erosion and to allow passage of traffic.
4.03.3 Drainaue. Light-use rand drainage will consist of culverts in
flowing Streams, wet s*~G, and in ephemeral channels as
necessary to protect the facility durirg its life aryl to
~nim;ze disttsbance of the hydrologic b3lanoe. Sediment
oorrtrol will o~iply with 4.05.2 and 4.05.5.
Culverts aryl Bridges. Culverts or ksidges will be installed
for crossings of all flawing drainages and streams. Light-sue
roads planned to be used for a period of less than 6-months
shall utilize temporary culverts or bridges designed to safely
pass the 1-year, 6-hour precipitation event, ar larger event
as specified by the Division.
