1 12 APPLICATION PAGE 13 OF 35
• Stockpiled topsoil material that was stripped and stockpiled in the buffer areas prior
to the mining operations, will then be spread across the reclamation area. Topsoil
material shall be spread to provide a minimum depth of four inches. If, in the
course of importing fill to the site, better quality plan growth medium soil is
obtained, the imported soil should be used to replace the equal amount of
stockpiled topsoil, and the replaced soil should be used as backfill material.
Next, all topsoil area will be mulched with certified weed free mulch at a rate of 1
to 1.5 tons per acre. The topsoil and mulch will then be disked and prepared for
seeding.
Seeding operations should be scheduled to occur in early April or August. Seeding
will be completed by drilling or broadcast method. If broadcast method is
selected, the seeding rates shall be doubled, and the seed shall be incorporated
into the soil with a harrow or morman crease. Seed used for reclamation shall
consist of the following:
SPECIES PLS RATE/ACRE % OF MIX
Jose Tall Wheatgrass 25 70
Alkali Sacaton 1 10
Western Wheatgrass 14 10
Galleta 13 10
Note: PLS rates listed shall be doubled if broadcast.
• After the area has been planted, the area shall be fertilized at a rate of 200 lbs. per
acre, with 21-0-0 & 0-45-0, or as otherwise recommended by a soil test performed
by the Soil Conservation Service.
The operator needs to implement weed control practices, as required, to eliminate
noxious weeds from the permit area.
The site will not be irrigated, as suitable irrigation water sources are not available to
the site.
Part 2(b)
As discussed above, reclamation proposed for this site, vacant
industrial/commercial zoned land is appropriate for the site. The surrounding land
uses are primarily industrial commercial uses. The site has already been subdivided
into five lots.
Part 2(c)
3.1.1 Post-Mining Use
The post mining land use will be vacant industrial/commercial zoned
land.
3.1.2 Reclaiming Substituted Land
There are no substitute lands proposed with this project.
0
