Baseline Technical
Report
ARCADIS
Report for Soils and
Biological Resources,
Cresson Mine Life Extension
Project Area
1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company (CC&V) is planning a Mine Life
Extension (MLE) to extend its Cresson Mine operations in the Cresson Project
(Project) in the Cripple Creek Mining District (District) in Teller County, Colorado.
Extension of the operations requires additional permitting by CC&V with the Colorado
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS). This Baseline Technical Report
for Soils and Biological Resources (Technical Report) contains baseline data
collection, analysis and reporting in support of the MLE.
The extended mining operations will occur within a designated MILE Project Boundary,
which is comprised of approximately 700 acres surrounding the existing operations.
The lands within the MILE Project Boundary area are owned or controlled by CC&V.
Based on the most recent updates in 1999 and 2007 to soils and biological resources
studies, the overall vegetation and soils character has not changed, although certain
mining operations within the area have. In addition, the 2007 field visit confirmed that
suitable habitat exists for many of the species identified as inhabiting, or potentially
inhabiting, the area within the MILE Project Boundary. Generally, suitable habitat does
not exist, or is limited, for the federally listed threatened and endangered species
identified in this report.
•
CCV Final Technical Report (3-28-08).doc 1
