• check dams, geotextile, and use of vegetation slash. These features are constantly
reviewed and maintained as part of the site-wide Storm Water Management Plan.
The American Eagles Overlook and the American Eagles access road will remain
open during daylight hours subject to the terms of the agreement with Teller
County, except for short periods when the road can not be safely maintained due
to mining activities. The access road will be relocated over the backfilled portion
of the East Cresson following reestablishment of the post-mining topography in
this area as currently approved under Amendment No. 8.
Public roads (i.e., County roads) will not be used by CC&V for hauling
overburden or ore. However, there is a growth medium stockpile located south of
the relocated Highway 67 which will need to be accessed during reclamation of
the VLF. This stockpile and crossing of Highway 67 to access this stockpile was
approved under Amendment No. 8 and no change in those activities is proposed
as part of the MLE Project.
5.8.2 Access Roads
• Access roads within CC&V's operating area will continue to be constructed for
light vehicle and delivery vehicle traffic. Access roads are constructed of
appropriate materials to approximate a two-lane road width. Depending on the
locations and anticipated duration of use, the access roads may be accompanied
by drainage ditches or other drainage control measures to minimize the potential
for excessive erosion.
A new access route will be constructed from the SGOSA to the crusher area to
allow for the delivery of the supply of fuel to the Fuel Island, lime to the lime silo
and provide access to the crusher area. This route will replace the existing route
from the Carlton Security access gate which will be eliminated as a result of
construction of Phase 5 of the VLF. The access road will be designated as
primarily an access route, but will be used for the primary ore haul to Phase 5 of
the VLF until the haul route is redirected across the VLF. This route is shown on
Drawing C-4.
5.8.3 Haul Roads
The MLE will use existing primary haul roads with new roads added as needed to
provide access to expanded mine areas and OSAs.
• Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension
5-22
