• production blasting, loaded into haul trucks with hydraulic shovels or front end
loaders, and hauled to the appropriate location. The mine areas will be developed
in a series of benches. The height and the width of the benches will vary
depending on the local geology, stability of the wall material, and mining needs.
Discussion of wall heights, bench widths, and stability is contained in Section
5.4.5 of this Project Description.
The MLE is planned to be mined using existing equipment with replacement as
needed and the addition of up to five new haul trucks. Table 5-5 presents the
anticipated equipment list.
•
Table 5-5
Antici ated Equipment List
Equipment Specifications
Drills Rotary/percussion with 6.75 inch hole diameter
Rubber Tire/ Track Loaders 12 to 25 yds bucket capacity
Hydraulic Shovels 18 to 40 yds capacity
Haul Trucks 85-ton, 95-ton, 150-ton, 240-ton, and 300-ton capacity
Dozers Caterpillar or equivalent dozers of D9, D10, and DI I class
Trackhoes Caterpillar or equivalent 235 or larger class
Water Trucks 13,000 and 18,000 capacity
Graders Caterpillar or equivalent 16G or larger class
Vehicle Maintenance Includes tire trucks, lube trucks, and service trucks
Miscellaneous Vehicles Crew vans and bus and various pick-ups
Miscellaneous subcontractor-owned earth moving equipment and maintenance
equipment may be on site at various times and in varying numbers during the
project. For the MLE, contractor activity would be utilized for utility support,
construction of the Phase 5 VLF, growth medium salvage, growth medium
replacement during reclamation and equipment maintenance as needed.
5.4.4 Drilling and Blasting
Overburden and ore will be drilled using track mounted drills. Individual drill
pattern spacing and depths may vary. The spacing will be determined by rock
characteristics as mining progresses and will change accordingly. Holes usually
are over drilled by approximately five feet to accommodate typical bench heights.
If bench heights vary, the depth of the drill holes will also vary. Drill holes for
• blasting are sampled and assayed to confirm ore from overburden material.
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension
5-9
