amec
Earth & Environmental
G) Miscellaneous
Placement of less than 1 cubic yard of transit mixed concrete was placed on the transformer pad
for the future millwright shop. 3-concrete cylinders were cast for compressive strength testing.
Placement of approximately 34 cubic yards of transit mixed concrete was placed on the retaining
wall footing located in conveyor transfer station 4.
II) Underground Working
A) Drilling
No work performed during shift.
B) Mine Shaft/Stope Remediation
Underground working 2036, located within the planned LOB conveyor transfer station 5: Work
continues to expose the remainder of the shaft and stope as the cut advances down slope and up
slope from the existing underground working. Shaft and slope is backfillen as the cut advances.
Underground working 2030 (Raven upper tunnel), located within the LOB Delivery Road: As the
cut continues, AMEC recommends backfilling the shaft (for safety) with 24-inch minus rock.
Therefore, it is anticipated the shaft will be removed once the LOB Delivery road is nearing final
grade.
Near Station 34+00 (+/-), right of centerline on the LOB Delivery Road, a shaft was found at the
existing toe of the cut slope. This appears to be another underground working, which has not been
documented. Ames survey will locate the shaft. The shaft was backfilled with rock for safety and
is marked with lath and flagging. Based on information provided by Ames, the shaft is within a
cut area and may be removed once the road is completed.
Underground working 2039: Full-time observation during the week on the placement of three
layers of geogrid and select structural fill. Work conforms to the Remediation Plan prepared by
AMEC. To date: 3860 square feet of geogrid and 119 cubic yards of select structural fill have
been placed and tested for compaction. Test results by Nuclear Methods (ASTM D-2922 &3017)
exceed 97% of Proctor density, (ASTM D-698). Moisture contents have been near optimum.
C) Lateral/Slot Remediation
(i) No work performed during shift
III) Stormwater Management Structures
A) LOB Stormwater Culverts
No work performed during shift.
B) Roadside ditch
No work performed during shift.
Sheet 3 of 11
LOB Weekly Report WE 04.18.09.13
