M-1978-349 (Dick Casey Concrete Pit)
2009 Technical Revision
March 31, 2009
Page 6
Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan
The original 112c Permit anticipates that approximately 29 acres of the 34.4 acres
identified in this Technical Revision will become ponds. By consolidating mining
into a single excavation, shoreline side slopes will be reduced and the normal water
elevation will be uniform. The overall water surface area will be comparable to
existing plans due to a lower, uniform water surface and potential fill at the easterly
end of the excavated area.
Inert backfill, upon notice and approval according to Construction Materials Rule
3.1.5 (9), may be used to selectively raise the pit floor at the time of reclamation. All
areas of fill will be appropriately vegetated as called for in this Reclamation Plan.
At time of reclamation release, the affected area of 34.4 acres will be seeded (e.g.,
the portion thereof not subject to indundation, see Exhibit F), along with revegetation
of vacated processing areas above grade. See revised Exhibit F for a new seeding
plan, consistent with current practices and preferred cover for the region. This plan
is based on current practice and advice from the NRCS. For additional information
regarding reclamation, Exhibit E of the original 112c Permit remains in effect.
Exhibit F - Reclamation Plan Map
The Reclamation Map has been updated to show slopes, open water, and
revegetation revised as a result of modifications to Exhibits C, D, and E, as
described above. Revised Exhibit F also includes a typical side slope detail and
updated seeding chart. Please see the attached plan drawing.
Exhibit L - Reclamation Costs
The applicant is requesting that 34.4 acres may be disturbed at one time, consistent
with one-phase mining. The cost estimate below covers all areas of the M-1978-349
permit and is based on the maximum amount of disturbance that is planned for this
6
