The two-year old 2006 Reclaimed Area did not meet the
production standard due to a large deduction for excess annual species.
Woody Plant Density
BACKGROUND DENSITY
The 2008 data from the 2004 Reclaimed Area indicate the average presence of 611.1 woody
plant stems per acre. In 2006 the number for woody plants was only 48.6 stems per acre, and
thus a rise of about 12x in woody plant density has occurred from the two-year old stage to the 4-
year old stage. This background level easily exceeds the standard of 200 stems per acre.
The 2006 Reclamation averaged 498 stems per acre (Table 6) in 2008. This background level
easily exceeds the standard of 200 stems per acre. The future is not certain, but with the above-
referenced increase from 32 stems per acre in 2005 for the 2003 Reclaimed Area to 797 stems
per acre in 2007, it will be interesting to observe how much of an increase, if any, will be
observed in 2010.
RANDOM SAMPLING OF POTENTIAL BOND RELEASE BLOCK AREA SHRUB DENSITIES
• Table 19 contains the data resulting from the sampling of twenty-eight random shrub points
placed throughout the Seneca IIW Mine in 2008. Total average woody plant density was 316
14
