~~
3-15
3.4.7 Shrub and Tree Planting
Due to the limited acreage of disturbance and the uncertainty of establishment,
the three tree species existing in the Juniper Woodland areas (Utah Juniper, Pinyon
Pine and Gamble=s Oak) will not be planted.
Shrubs to be planted in these areas will included Utah Serviceberry
(Amerlanchier utahensis), Big Sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata), Fourwing Saltbush
(Atriplex canescens), Shadscale Saltbush (Atriplex confertifolia), Winterfat (Ceratoides
lantana), True Mountain Mahogany (Cerocarpus montanus), Rubber Rabbitbrush
(Chrysothamnus nauseosus), Antelope Bitterbrush (Purshia tridentata) and Skunkbush
(Rhus trilobata).
Disturbance in the, shadscale community was limited to a small area of south
facing slopes in the lower portal facility area, and a segment of the upper road.
Disturbance in the greasewood community was the lower segment of haul road,
existing facilities, mouth of McClane Canyon, Coal Mine Waste Pile, Construction
Matenal and Topsoil Stockpiles as well as the sediment Pond. The planting density will
be about 40 seeds per square foot for drill seeding and about 80 seeds per square foot
for broadcast or hydro seeding.
TR-16
M`-Volume 1
(Rev 05/08)
