Inspections at the site indicate that some portions of these dumps have not been reclaimed and/or
erosion is occurring. In addition, the open shaft represents a hazardous condition. You indicated
that Jason Smith, of Umetco, had been in contact with Don Coram, of Golden Eagle, and that
Mr. Coram might backfill the open shaft. It was agreed that we would tentatively schedule a
field trip on April 8, 2009, to ascertain actual conditions on the ground. We agreed that you
would invite Mr. Coram and I would coordinate with Bob Oswald (Division of Reclamation,
Mining, and Safety) to join us in the field, if possible.
I have recently had knee surgery. I would like to postpone the field trip until sometime during
the week of May 18, 2009. Please notify me as to which days you would be available.
Also, the BLM sent a form, `Notice of Change of Operator and Assumption of Past Liability' to
you or. January 16, 2009. Please confirm whether Umetco intends to close the Burro Plan of
Operations (COC 52755) or transfer it to Golden Eagle.
Contact - If you have any questions or comments, you may contact me at 970.385.1359.
Sincerely,

Helen Mary Johnson
Geologist
Att: SLUP C-18213
cc: CO Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety - Durango
