• without flood irrigation strongly suggests the T3 terrace is
not subirrigated.
Potential Flood Irri4ation Analysis. Three terraces were
identified along Rapid Creek (Map 1). The T1 terrace is
composed of the channel and floodplain for Rapid Creek and is too
small and irregular to be considered for farming.
The Tz terrace has been developed for irrigated
agriculture to a limited extent. Each irrigated portion of the
TZ terrace had to be cleared of numerous large boulders and
leveled before irrigation was feasible. The remaining portions
of the TZ terrace currently have rough surfaces with large
boulders being the most obvious hinderance to developing
irrigated farm land, Portions of the TZ terrace, in the
• vicinity of the old Blue Flame Mine have been graded and
generally disturbed by the previous mining operation. The
disturbed nature of the valley makes it unlikely that irrigated
agriculture would ever be developed at this location.
The T3 terrace has historically been irrigated (See Map
1). It is not known why the previously irrigated orchard on this
surface has been abandoned. In order for additional acreages of
the T3 terrace associated with Rapid Creek, to be developed,
boulders must also be cleared.
Summary of Alluvial Valley Floor Characteristics.
