PROJECT SLfMMARY:
This is a request for approval of sand offloading at the existing Snowcap Coal load out area
in Cameo north of the Xcel Power Plant off from I 9110 Road. This load out area was
constructed as part of original coal mining operations on the subject property and said use
was last reviewed and approved as the Cameo and Roadside Mines Conditional Use Permit
(0100-76) by the Board of County Commissioners on November 27, 1990.
Sand would be delivered in rail cars and would typically be off loaded directly into
pneumatic truck trailers within 48 hours. The loaded trucks will transport the sand to well
sites where it will be utilized in hydraulic fracturing operations. No permanent structures are
proposed for the site and no off loaded sand will be stored on-site. Average expected daily
traffic volumes would be 3-4 rail cars off loaded into 12-16 trucks accessing the site via the
I-70 westbound off ramp and departing to well sites via the I-70 eastbound on ramp. The
maximum daily volumes would be 6 rail cars and 24 trucks.
Under car belt conveyors will be utilized to transfer sand from the rail cars to the trucks.
Primary operations will be 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., however, some after hour operations may
be necessitated. An 80' x 80' fenced in security area will be established to store the
conveyors when not in use.
•
A15-2-1
