WILDLIFE INFORMATION EXHIBIT H
1) Significant Game Resources on the Affected Lands
Mule deer and elk are probably the most critical game resource in this area. The current
landscape offers very little cover for deer, elk and other small mammals in the irrigated pasture
areas. The area to the north of the disturbed area has pinyon and juniper trees which provides
cover. The northern area of the permit will be left undisturbed for wildlife habitat. Wildlife will
use the irrigated pasture for forage year round. Within the permit area there is approximately
72.6 acres of irrigated pasture and 21.4 acres of pinyon / juniper area.
2. Significant Non-Game Resources on the Affected Lands
Fox and coyote are probably the most critical non-game resource in this area. Other small
animals will feed in the irrigated pasture as well as the rangeland areas. The rangeland portion of
the permit area provides better cover for wildlife. There are no known raptor nests on the permit
area or in the vicinity. See Map C-1 for the vegetation communities.
3. Seasonal Use of Affected Lands
The irrigated pasture within the permit area is of high value to the deer and elk in the winter
months since other forage sources are less available.
4. Presence and Estimated Population of Threatened or Endangered species in the area.
None.
5. Fish Resources
None.
Simmons Pit, March 2009 H-1
