RECLAMATION PLAN
1. General Reclamation Plan
EXHIBIT E
The total area of the permit is 94.00 acres. The permit has both disturbed area (46.07 acres) and
undisturbed area (47.93 acres). The access road is to be left in place for access to the reclaimed
irrigated pasture. The reclaimed land use is shown in Table E-1. There are pinyon and juniper
trees along the north side of the permit and some of them will be removed during the course of
mining. The area of trees to be removed is 9.24 acres. The reclaimed rangeland area of 9.66
acres is mostly north facing and will eventually have tree cover.
Table E-1 Simmons Pit Reclamation Land Use
Land Use Area acres
Reclaimed Rangeland 9.66
Reclaimed Irrigated Pasture 35.67
Access Road 0.74
Undisturbed Wildlife Area 12.45
Undisturbed Irrigated Pasture 35.48
Total 94.00
Reclamation will be conducted as new areas are disturbed throughout the year,. This will most
likely happen in small increments a few times per year, with topsoil and overburden being placed
in the previously excavated areas of the pit. See Map F for details. This will also help reduce the
exposed land area which will reduce the reclamation bond. Overburden is expected to vary
between 0'-14' and will be used to create a flood irrigated pasture after mining. The north facing
slopes of the reclaimed rangeland should produce vegetation quickly since they are less steep
than the original slope. A combination of silt fence and hay bales will be used on the toe of this
fill slope until the vegetation controls erosion. See Map F for details.
2. Topsoil Replacement
The amount of topsoil proposed to be salvaged and replaced is 66,627 C.Y. as shown in Table D-
1. All of the areas will receive topsoil replaced to a thickness of 8-14 inches. Mining Areas 1 and
Simmons Pit, March 2009 E-1
