Greg Lewicki And Associates -
11541 Warrington Court Phone: (303) 346-5196 Fox (303)-346-6934
Parker, CO USA 80138 E-Mail: infonlewicki.biz
December 20, 2007
Steve Shuey
Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety DEC 2 0
1313 Sherman St., Room 215 2007
Denver, CO 80203 GRAND JUNCTION FIELD OFFICE
DIVISION OF
RECLAMATION MINING 11 SAFETY
Second Adequacy Review Response ,?
Tri County Gravel, Permit No. M-1977-265, Technical Revision No.2
Dear Mr. Shuey:
In response to the additional adequacy review provided by your office for the second
technical revision of the Tri County Gravel 112 Construction Materials Permit the
following modification to the technical revision have been made:
2. Tri County Gravel commits to maintain flow in the irrigation ditch that runs
through the existing Phase V, and use it to water the wetlands present there.
7. An appropriate vegetation plan has been drawn up for Tri County Gravel, using
United Companies nearby Anderson Pit as a basis.
8. a) In order to insure maximum flexibility over the mine's life, a 30' wide spillway
has replaced the originally planned HDPE pipe used for discharge from the
sediment pond. The new Sediment Pond Discharge Detail shows the
specifications of the spillway. The reclamation of the sediment pond and
associated costs are included in the End of Mine Life Reclamation Cost Table
in the attached up dates.
b) The location of the pit pump has been updated to show it out of the pit. The
pump will sit above the pit with a suction hose reaching down into the pit.
c) The majority of the equipment is mobile, allowing it to be moved out of the pit
if there is a pump failure. Also, in the event of a pump failure, a replacement
pump can be installed within 24-hours and in 24-hours, only 4.8 inches of water
will be on the pit floor.
10. The 100-year, 24-hour FEMA floodplain has been added to Map C-1.
13. The irrigations nearest to the wetlands that lie between Phase 3 and the Gunnison
River will be excavated as mining progresses. During mining, this wetland area
will be watered via a small pit pump and water line. This will maintain the
wetlands until mining is complete, and dewatering ceases.
14. The Reclamation Plan Map has been up dated to include the correct labeling of
the lake discharge.
