M-2008-078 - GP Ranches, LLC - West Farm Pit - 112 (c) Application Adequacy Review 01 Response
March 17, 2009
-4-

Phase Average Mining
Depth ft
13 64
14 57
15 48
16 49
17 46
18 57
11. The Mining Plan indicates that mining will progress down to the bedrock, which will be used in
the construction of the liner. Please specify the depth to which the bedrock will be mined.
The depth to which portions of the bedrock will be mined will be 3 feet.
12. An unaccounted for overhead electric line was identified during the pre-operation inspection of the
site. The electric line runs from north to south through the two reservoir cells. Please explain what
will happen to this electric line when this area of the site is mined. Also, include the overhead
electric line on the Mining Plan Map and the Reclamation Plan Map if necessary.
The overhead electric line will be relocated prior to mining that area. A draft structure and
relocation agreement with the owner (Lamar Light and Power) of the line is attached that grants
GP permission to relocate the line. GP will maintain a minimum mining setback of 200 feet from
the powerline to be relocated until the relocation agreement has been finalized. An updated
Exhibit C Pre-Mining/Mining Plan Map is attached that includes the location of the overhead
electric line.
6.4.5 Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan
13. The Reclamation Plan states that when reclamation is complete, the site will contain a reservoir
with two interconnected cells. Please clarify how the cells of the reservoir will be interconnected.
The reservoir cells will not be interconnected. They will be reclaimed as separate cells.
14. The applicant indicates that the topsoil stockpiles will be seeded if they sit longer than one growing
season. Please specify the seed mix to be used on the topsoil stockpiles per Rule 6.4.509 (ii).
The stockpiles will be seeded with the seed mix identified in the Exhibit E Reclamation Plan that
was recommended for use on this site by the Prowers County NRCS.
15. The Reclamation Plan calls for replacing the topsoil to a depth of six inches. The Division
recommends replacing the topsoil to a depth of twelve inches. The affected area will be primarily
surface water when reclamation is complete. This will provide the operator with a sufficient
amount of topsoil, so as to replace it to a depth of twelve inches. Please commit replacing twelve
inches of topsoil.
GP commits to replacing the topsoil to a depth of twelve inches.
V 1400 W 122nd Avenue -Suite 120 • Westminster CO 80234 • Ph: 303-457-0735 • Fax: 303-920-0343
